The Schweikher House
I had a rare opportunity to do a photoshoot of Schaumburg's Schweikher House which was built in 1938. It is considered to be one of the top 150 architectural gems of Illinois and was designed by Paul Schweikher. It has a distinct Japanese influence with elements of Frank Lloyd Wright thrown in for good measure. As an architectural draftsman, myself, of 20 years (in a past profession) I was particularly impressed with his work studio which had, at one time, 4 drafting tables that Schweikher used along with his draftsmen. Walking into the house and experiencing the surroundings you get a strong sense of nostalgia and awe.

The caretaker, Todd Wenger, has done a stellar job in hosting tours and maintaining the house and grounds.

Todd Wenger is the Executive Director of the Schweikher House Preservation Trust.
